I never had the chance to smell ADG Profumo, but based on my experience, this fragrance doesn’t resemble the other ADG releases that people often compare it to. While most fragrances in the ADG lineup focus on bright citrus and fresh aquatic notes, this one is centered around a salty marine accord paired with a noticeable incense character. In fact, it reminds me very strongly of Le Sel D’Issey EDP, which I think is an excellent and more affordable alternative.
The first couple of hours are largely driven by the combination of salt and incense. Because of that, I’ve always been surprised to see it recommended as a summer or gym fragrance. The incense comes across as too prominent and dense for hot weather or confined indoor settings. As it settles, the scent gradually becomes cleaner and smoother, but even then it feels better suited to cooler temperatures and the other three seasons rather than peak summer.
It also carries a distinctly mature personality. It brings to mind the atmosphere of professional offices from the late 1990s and early 2000s—refined, serious, and somewhat formal. If your goal is to find an easygoing, sporty fragrance for workouts or casual wear, this probably isn’t the best match.
